Expression Errors: Writing is choppy or dense; unbusinesslike tone; format and purpose mismatch
Mechanical Errors: Writing contains grammar, punctuation, capitalization, or spelling mistakes

We break the process into steps:

2. Teach writers to recognize errors in their own writing
3. Help writers understand the reasons why their writing is error-prone
4. Teach writers to avoid the errors they have learned to recognize and understand
5. Help writers move from self-expression to recognizing and communicating with their audience
6. Leave writers with individualized tools for maintaining effective writing patterns
7. Provide individualized follow-up and reinforcement programs
