About Us
The Reading Clinic has been serving Bay Area families for 15 years, enhancing academic performance and self-esteem in children of all ages. In response to the challenges of an increasingly complex and competitive world, we have added a new, exciting program called Ace Academics. We are equally effective in helping elementary school students, secondary school students, and college students who aim to raise their grades, improve their test scores, and become better, more effective learners. Our tutors are subject-area masters, expertly matched with their students to maximize the effectiveness of their time together.
With particular emphasis on basic Language Arts concepts, Ace Academics takes the written and spoken word to a higher level. Our combination of ultra-small classes and one-on-one instruction promotes competent, confident self-expression across the curriculum. We coach students in all forms of writing, including narrative, expository, persuasive and responsive. We offer specialty courses in Science and Social Studies writing, and Mathematics word problems, taught by skilled and experienced mentors. Anne Harris, Director
Anne is a credentialed teacher with eight years of classroom experience. She has spent the last two years coaching students in a variety of subjects as proprietor of 180° Academic Services. Anne holds an MBA and prior to her move to education, Anne worked in accounting and finance for a variety of local high-tech and service companies. Anne recently earned her MFA in Creative Writing and is working on her first collection of short stories.
Beth Powell, Director
Beth has worked in the field of education for 15 years. After completing her BA degree in Math and her MA in Transformative Leadership with a focus on math education, she developed the Math with Ease® Program. Beth is also a musician and is part of the theatrical community. She was a consultant for the theatrical production of “Proof”.
